Rehabilitation and upgrading of the facades of the functional buildings and the 45 housing units Enhancement of the site’s image – Repair of roof terraces. The site is located at the southern entrance to the ZAC des Meuniers: the general image and quality of services must enhance the barracks (functional buildings, housing). The technical solutions implemented favor simple and reliable techniques. Intervention in an occupied environment, phasing by functional unit.

The image of the new fire fighting building image is defined:– By a specific “signage” approach distinguishing the “functional” entities (barracks/catering/gymnasium/training tower) from the “residential” entity of the housing tower. The principle is to unify the entire building in shades of white and values of gray, enhanced with red punctuation for the facade of the barracks, and a metal covering for the loggia volumes of the accommodation. On the other hand, a graphic treatment (painting on the ground) is being applied to the vast eastern esplanade, the vehicle turning area, the helipad area (30m in diameter) and the dedicated parking lots.– By a “land development” approach, because the site in the North can be transformed into a residential district and the Meuniers route has been made public. The North-South axis structuring the ZAC will run along the west facade of the block occupied by the housing tower and the gymnasium. The housing tower will be at the same height as the new constructions of the ZAC. The architectural appearance of the facades of the housing tower is at a comparable level of service as the housing in the ZAC. The gymnasium will be seen from the top of future neighboring housing.– Through a “simplification” approach to technical and regulatory issues. The processing of the envelopes is framed by the program, the room for design maneuver lies in the limitation of details that are simple to produce and durable.-By an approach “with the soil”, essential which made it possible to upgrade the definition of outdoor spaces: strengthening the plant layout to the West, the quality of the esplanade to the East, and the fences.
