Sport Hall Frontignan (13)

Dojo room and sports hall

PROGRAM & OBJECTIVES
The new sports hall is situated at the junction between the town, the Peyrade district, and the natural spaces of the ponds. The porous design creates windows opening onto the landscape of wetlands and bodies of water. Located in the south of the town, the site also benefits from northern views of the Gardiole mountain range. The project draws upon the richness of the existing contrasting landscapes. It enhances the soft, stable, and consistent northern light, ideal for sports activities.

FEATURES
The timber-framed project relies on a construction system that is economical in its use of natural resources, water, and energy, and on prefabrication that minimizes construction waste. On this timber frame, the facades are insulated with straw and clad with thatch made from Camargue reeds. This cladding, composed of organic fibers—natural materials recognized for their thermal, acoustic, and ecological qualities—identifies the new sports hall in Frontignan.
